Fitzroy Shorts proudly supports the Bicycle Film Festival

Fitzroy’s own short film festival celebrates a fantastic year of short films with THE FITZ Best Short Film Awards ‘06 to be held on December 2nd at The Spanish Club in Fitzroy. Awards are to be presented by the one and only Brigadier Rex Pipes who will be the host for the evening. Ten of the best films from the Fitzroy Shorts screening calendar 2006 will screen on the night and will be followed by an awards ceremony.

On a beautifully warm spring Melbourne night, die hard Fitzroy Shorts supporters refused the urge to go down to the beach and crammed The Spanish Club in Fitzroy to watch a fantastic selection of short docos from all over the world. Highlights from the night were local docos BLOOD BROTHERS, directed by Rebecca Parker and THROUGH THE WIRE, directed by Pip Starr. However it was ARKS from Sweden, directed by Karin Karlsonn and Mita Moberg that stole the show. ARKS; A 100 miles north of the arctic circle, people fish on the lake Torneträsk. They sit in their “arks” - small, movable cabins, filled with all mod cons. Screened at Interfilm, Berlin 2005 and The London Times festival 2005.
